ACTALIA is the Research and Technology Institute for the French food sector. Based principally around food technology, the multidisciplinary Actalia team (180 engineers and technicians) covers technological issues from raw materials to consumer perceptions, and also manufacturing processes.

Amongst its environmental expertises are Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in food factories, energy efficiency and water management. Actalia is currently involved in the European Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) program and member of the technical secretariat dedicated to dairy pilot.

ACTALIA has participated in several projects in the 7PM framework, as TERIFIQ: Combining Technologies to achieve significant binary Reductions in Sodium, Fat and Sugar content in everyday foods whilst optimizing their nutritional Quality; FOOD MICROSYSTEMS: Microsystems and Smart Miniaturized Systems for Food Quality and Safety Control and DREAM: Design and development of realistic food models with well characterized micro- and macro-structure and composition.
